TV documentary maker Doug Hausse is totally obsessed. Not by demons or wizards, but by himself. As he looks in the mirror he sees the wide smile on the face of the most famous TV personality of the 21st century, accompanied by a halo of orbiting star systems.

His documentaries, exclusively broadcast by his father-owned, small town, local channel KRAP-TV, are definitely "masterpieces."

Well, his creations do have something; just not what he wants them to have. Instead of being taken seriously, the level of stupidity exceeds any reasonable documentary's “educational” purpose.

For instance his documentary regarding the killing of Roman emperor Julius Caesar, and its aftermath. It leads to a pride of complaining lions who categorically refuse to accept sharing gladiators in the arena. And for a good reason, as it was clearly written in their contracts that each of them should have their own for supper.

And how about his disappointment after witnessing - and recording -  aliens in Scotland? A one-way ticket to fame finds its climax in the rugby battle between rival pubs’ patrons, with Doug caught in the scrum.

Yes, our “hero” has a problem with his ego, which stretches from here to the outer limits of the galaxy. It just somehow doesn’t seem to work for him. But Doug won’t give up, never! His show must go on.... Our show...

Besides his own issues, he has a few with a certain colleague as well.

Former flight attendant Linda Faykes is a very successful talk show host for KRAP-TV.

Fortunately for her, her boss, Doug's father Henry Hausse, and she are having a mutual agreement about which show she gets and which ones go to Doug. After all she is the real celebrity at KRAP-TV and therefore the stations's moneymaker, so they play it safe.

Doug’s father also strongly believes in outer appearances, and in KRAP-TV's success story that means that the celebrities unvoluntary have to keep up harmonious relations. So Doug and Linda “lovingly” share a luxurious apartment.

Doug’s first talk show assignment is hosting a discussion with humans dressed as animals. Yes, humans dressed as animals. And wow, do they go into character!

Now Doug has more issues to deal with besides his misfortunes and Linda. Also his dreams are not typically about superstardom. They are usually more devastating than what happens during daytime.

In one of them he is a copycat of a famous British spy, in another one a great athlete. Both scenarios are guaranteed blueprints for disaster.

So eventually he decides to seek “professional psychiatric” help from Joe Brixton. And you thought that only Doug had lost it? Meet the shrink.

Not exactly all of Doug's dreams are miserable, at least not in the way they start. He meets his secret love Kate in "Titanic 2 (the sequel)," a love story based on Jack’s and Rose’s. A dream ending with (no, not in) icy water.

While Linda’s talk shows are success after success, including fans fighting over autographs, all of Doug's are laughing stock. Ouch!

Our “Mr. Universal Celebrity” has to deal with a lack of "proof of success." So his shrink, a forever single in all universes imaginable, will gladly help him to gain his confidence back by a technique meant to winning Kate's heart. And Doug listens to his advice, carefully....

But when you expect it can't get any worse, Doug finds something very interesting buried at the beach in a location where he was some four decades ago with his daddy. And Doug listened to his advice, carefully....

The concept of “Fly Like An Ego”

Sketch-driven and based on absurdity, slapstick, parody, with hints all over the place and a collection of typical, weird characters.

With the third installment already being completed (!), there is room for two sequels and ample flexibility for interchanging sketches.

The inspiration for “Fly Like An Ego”

The writer is exceedingly influenced by the work of Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker (Airplane, Hot Shots, Naked Gun, etc.) and Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
